One just has to look at the paintings a different way.
This one took me a little while to figure out...
This one is harder because it isn't a face...

This one is kind of creepy...
The use of the hat in the one above is so clever!

I love these. So amazing. Why the faces pop out at us is because the optical portion of the brain is programed to recognize faces, so as we look at the world around us, our brains pick up little oddities in things that look like faces. This talented painter worked with that fact very skillfully, for technically, there isn't anything in the painting that shouldn't be there. It's just that our minds see a face in the specially positioned objects. A robot would scan the paintings above and wouldn't see any face, because, quite honestly, there isn't any. Neat, huh?
That's so neat that a robot wouldn't see anything, and it makes sense; unless the robot was programed to (think face detecting cameras) it wouldn't because it doesn't have the same formatting as a human brain (thank goodness XD)
It's a dream of mine to have a room filled with optical illusion paintings like these.....and then put annoying visitors into it.
Interesting fact of the day! XD
Thanks for the comments! ^-^
