First video recording (1888) and World's oldest photographs



I promised no more long breaks...well, let's just say my schoolwork kept me in cruel bondage and only just now had the decency to grant me freedom. =P My apologies, again.


Titled The Roundhay Garden Scene, this is the first known video recording, roughly lasting 2 seconds, shot at 12 frames. It dates back to 1888 (supposedly shot on October 14), and was filmed by Louis Aimé Augustin Le Prince, who is known as "The father of cinematography". It was filmed at the Whitley home (called Oakwood Grange) in Roundhay, Leeds, Britain. Using a single-lens camera of his own making, Le prince taped his son, Adolphe, his Mother in law, Mrs. Sarah Whitley, Joseph Whitley (presumably another family member) and Miss Harriet Hartley.
